SALAMANCA. This museum houses hundreds of small pieces of history. One of the most amazing exhibits is a fourth century BC Iberian statue of the Lady of Elche. There are Islamic and Roman collections, as well. The time period stretches all the way to the Baroque period and the Spanish Renaissance. Marquis Cerralbo's home was so beautiful inside and out that, after his death, it was named a museum. The 19th century Italian architecture will take your breath away as you wander through the beautifully landscaped garden. Cerralbo's home contains an extensive collection of art work ranging from Spanish, French, and Italian paintings, all the way to the chandeliers that are suspended from the ceiling and the porcelain and pottery that decorate the home. In the midst of all the artwork, you will find authentic Byzantine jewelry and hand-woven clothes from the 1400's. ATOCHA. This museum works as a partner to the Prado Museum because it carries the work of modern and contemporary artists. Most of the works are by the 20th century artists of Spain. Picasso's masterpiece, "Guernica," hangs in this museum, after being in New York's Museum of Modern Art for years. The painting depicts a scene of Spain's history. Learn new things about the Spanish navy by visiting the Museo Naval. Spain's history from Isabella and Ferdinand to the present is vividly depicted. You can see remains from the Battle of Trafalgar.
